Hold On To Your Hats, Bernstock Speirs Turns 30 [Gallery]

By Ashanti Jason

Legendary London milliners (hat makers to you and me) Bernstock Speirs celebrate 30 years making playful, creative and highly original hats with a new exhibition at the Fred London Ltd gallery.

Super design duo Paul Bernstock and Thelma Speirs have managed to excite, ignite creativity, and inject some serious fun into millinery over three decades, and from November 14-24 you can get up close and personal with their iconic pieces.

‘Bernstock Speirs 30’ celebrates the duo’s work, and includes collaboration pieces made with the likes of Peter Jensen, Richard Nicoll, Henry Holland.

The exhibition also puts on show the fashion films made in the 80s by artist Isaac Julien, and working sketches of some of their famous pieces. Somehow they have managed to put flair in to something as basic as a line sheet.

A limited edition print and a special edition bunny cap will be available at the gallery during the exhibition.

From their bunny ear cap bestseller to the feather head dress no one can deny the force that is Bernstock Speirs.

Here’s a sneak preview of what to expect.
